LOFT’s New Recycling Hub in Manchester
At LOFT, we have always been committed to sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint. In our latest stride toward this mission, we are thrilled to announce the opening of our dedicated recycling hub at our warehouse in Manchester.
This new facility marks a significant step forward in our waste management strategy, providing a robust system to handle and process waste more efficiently.
A New Era in Waste Management
Located at one of our existing units on Hyde Road, our newly cleared-out space has been transformed into a comprehensive waste management facility.
This isn't just a minor upgrade; it’s a complete overhaul, designed to optimise how we handle various waste materials.
From now on, all waste generated will begin its journey here, ensuring a streamlined and systematic approach to recycling and disposal.
Streamlined Waste Segregation
To enhance our waste processing capabilities, we've introduced a meticulous separation system. Waste will now be categorised into six distinct streams; mattresses, cardboard, plastic, metal, wood and non-recyclable waste.
This detailed segregation will make it significantly easier to process each type of waste correctly, ensuring that recyclable materials are handled efficiently while minimising the contamination that impedes recycling efforts.
Responsible Recycling
One of the standout features of our new facility is LOFT’s investment in a state-of-the-art cardboard baler. This machine will transform loose cardboard into mill-sized bales.
Baling cardboard in this manner not only saves space, but also enhances the recycling process. Bales are more desirable for recyclers as they can be directly fed into the recycling process, reducing the need for further handling and processing.
This efficiency means that cardboard can be swiftly turned into new packaging, closing the loop in the recycling chain more effectively.
