One Week. Three Sectors. One Vision: LOFT Takes Centre Stage Across UK Residential Property

By Benjamin Hall, Founder & Managing Director, LOFT

Next week marks something unprecedented in LOFT's 22-year history. For the first time, we'll be simultaneously supporting the three major annual conferences that define the UK's residential property landscape – standing shoulder to shoulder with the very best in Private Rented Sector, Build to Rent, and Purpose Built Student Accommodation. It's not often you get to step back and recognise a milestone moment whilst you're living it. But this is exactly that. From 5th-6th November, the LOFT team will be representing across three cities, showcasing the breadth and depth of a service offering that's taken two decades to build. It's a statement week that reflects where we've come from – and more importantly, where the industry is heading.

The Evolution of a Promise

When I started this business in 2003 with a £15,000 student loan and my dad's second-hand furniture shop, the concept was simple: provide landlords with quality furniture that helps them attract and retain great residents. The Buy-to-Let boom was just beginning, and there was a real opportunity to professionalise what had been, frankly, an afterthought in most rental properties.

Fast forward 22 years, and we're now a team of over 150 people with two major distribution centres, working across every residential living sector in the UK. But here's what hasn't changed: our fundamental belief that where people live matters. Interior design isn't decoration – it's the difference between a space and a home, between occupancy and community, between compliance and excellence.

Three Conferences, Three Conversations, One Philosophy

1. NRLA Housing Conference – Liverpool, 5th November

As Official Furniture Partner at the NRLA's flagship event, Ben Relton and Lauren Curtis will be representing our core heritage. The Private Rented Sector is navigating one of its most challenging periods – from legislative upheaval to energy efficiency standards, from maintaining quality to managing margins. Our conversation here centres on furniture packages and replenishment services that don't just meet landlords' needs but anticipate them.

2. ARL Annual Conference – London, 6th November

Move across to Canary Wharf's One Canada Square, and Alex Gooch and Laura Clark will be flying the flag for LOFT's Build to Rent offering

As Official Furniture Partner, we're there because BTR represents the future of institutional rental housing – large-scale, design-led, community-focused developments where interior design becomes brand identity. Our focus? Interior design and project furnishings that help BTR operators deliver on their promise of elevated living experiences.

3. The Class Conference – Lisbon, 5th-6th November

Then there's Lisbon, where Benjamin Hall and Elizabeth Jackson will be hosting the Official Closing Party at Europe's largest student housing conference.

As nominees for Best Interior Design at the Best In Class Awards, we're showcasing our latest Flex Living collection alongside our expertise in designing and furnishing co-living spaces. The conversation here is about "People First" design – creating shared living environments where students don't just study, but thrive.

Why This Matters

Some might ask: why spread across three conferences in one week? Why not pick one and focus there?

The answer is simple. Because the residential property market isn't siloed, and neither should our service be.

The challenges facing a private landlord in Manchester aren't entirely different from those facing a BTR operator in Leeds or a PBSA provider in Edinburgh. They're all grappling with resident expectations, regulatory pressures, sustainability targets, and the eternal equation of quality versus cost. They all need partners who understand that furnishing a property is about creating an experience, not just filling a room.

What's changed over 22 years isn't our core mission – it's our capability to deliver it across every residential vertical. We've built specialist teams who speak the language of each sector, understand the nuances of each market, and can translate "People First" design philosophy into practical, deliverable solutions.

The Week Ahead

From Liverpool to London to Lisbon, our teams will be having hundreds of conversations. We'll be learning as much as we're sharing – that's always been the beauty of industry events. We'll see old clients, meet new ones, and hopefully contribute something meaningful to the dialogue around what comes next for residential property.

If you're attending any of these events, come find us. Whether you're managing a single HMO in Bristol or developing a 500-unit BTR scheme in Birmingham, whether you're focused on PRS, BTR, or PBSA – we'd love to talk about how design-led furniture solutions can help you achieve your vision.

Because at the end of the day, regardless of sector, regardless of scale, we're all in the same business: creating spaces where people want to live. And that's a conversation worth having.
