We're leaving the multi-unit Northern warehousing estate that built us, and consolidating into a single, purpose-built facility at Hattons Road, Trafford Park. One roof. One team. One operation, engineered from the ground up around the customer we want to serve over the next decade.
I want to tell you why - and what it means for the people who buy from us.
The honest truth about where we are
LOFT didn't grow into seven warehouse units because we planned to. We grew into them because demand kept outrunning the room we had. Every unit we took on solved a problem in the moment. Together, they created a different one: a brilliant business operating across buildings that were never designed to work as one.
Pickers walked further than they should. Stock sat where it shouldn't. Our team - the best in the trade, in my biased opinion - were doing extraordinary work despite the bricks around them, not because of them.
You can run a great business in the wrong building for a while. You cannot scale one.
What we're building at Trafford Park
Hattons Road is not a bigger version of what we had. It's a different category of operation.
A purpose-built site. New racking. A £280,000 mezzanine. Articulated reach trucks that work the heights properly. Modern network and IT infrastructure designed for the way we want to trade in 2030, not 2020. Loading bays, three-phase power, security and fulfilment flow that all speak the same language.
Translated into the only language that actually matters, 'what the customer feels', it means:
- Faster picks, faster despatch, fewer touches per order
- Higher accuracy, because the system was designed once, not bolted on seven times
- Capacity headroom for the bundles, replenishments and contract orders our trade customers have been asking us to take on
- A platform we can grow on for years, not months
Why now?
The honest answer is: because the market is moving and we'd rather lead than catch up.
Interiors, contract furniture, lettings, B&I - every one of our customer segments is changing. Landlords are professionalising. Operators are consolidating. Specifiers want fewer, better suppliers. The companies that win the next five years will be the ones who can deliver quality, at price, at scale, on time, every time.
You cannot promise that from seven buildings. You can promise it from one, properly built.
The relocation says one thing to our customers
We're investing in you.
When a supplier moves into a bigger, better facility in the middle of peak season, that's a statement. We're saying we believe in the next chapter of the business we serve. We believe in the trade. We believe in the partnerships we've built - and we're putting our money behind both.
