Student Roost x LOFT - Student Accommodation

Development Overview:

Investor / Owner: Greystar
Operator: Student Roost
Development: Multiple developments
Location: Multiple locations

Project Overview

LOFT successfully delivered and styled the vibrant amenity spaces at Student Roost developments across the UK in student cities such as Chester, Newcastle, York and Liverpool.

We created amenity spaces which reflect local personality and meet the needs of modern students. The areas in need of interior design included:

  • Resident lounges
  • Games rooms
  • Co-working spaces
  • Reception areas

The Vision

LOFT worked closely with Student Roost to bring their vision to life. They already had a detailed look and feel document to suit their brand and student demographic. So it was up to LOFT to specify the furniture and complementary accessories. Prioritising pieces which could be sourced in time, and would fit the aesthetic and spaces.

"The dressing of these spaces should be fun and bold, whilst still tasteful and toned.”
-The brief from Student Roost

Furnishing a space for students encourages a bolder, more colourful approach than for other types of developments. Both in terms of providing a fun, youthful aesthetic, but also because the resident turnover rate every academic year requires eye-catching interiors to appeal to potential students.

Design Inspiration

Choosing furniture which balanced the brief while promising to last for the long term was key. For example, LOFT specified sturdy sofas and heavy duty tables with modern silhouettes to add interest.

Another of the easier ways to strike the balance between style and durability was by choosing colourful fabrics. Sticking to a consistent palette of blues, pinks and purples provided plenty of personality (as well as allowing for the prerequisite Crib-5 upholstery).

Another design decision was to choose décor and accessories with nods to each location. Such as choosing artwork that represented the cities or in the Newcastle development, a little Angel of the North statue.

Logistics

LOFT were able to offer a ‘one stop shop’ to provide both furniture and accessories to Student Roost.

Each space was furnished and dressed in under two weeks. The seamless delivery and installation process ensured minimal disruption, with immediate readiness for student use and overwhelmingly positive feedback from both operator and students.

“The space looks great and we are so happy with it.”
