People First Design
At LOFT, our mantra is "People First Design" because we sincerely believe interior design and furnishings hold significant potential to influence both environmental and societal landscapes positively through Impactful Interiors.
This potential aligns perfectly with the growing priority of Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) criteria amongst property developers, construction companies, fund managers, and impact investors.
By adopting sustainable practices and choosing a company like LOFT, which prioritises ethical procurement and sustainable manufacturing processes, interior designers, fund managers, and property developers together can contribute to a greener planet and foster a healthier, more equitable society.
LOFT's ESG Values
Sustainability is at the core of what LOFT does. Learn more about all the intiatives and eco-conscious actions we take to better the planet.
Environmental Impact: Sustainable Materials and Practices
A tangible way LOFT plans to impact the environment is through our choice of materials.
Sustainable materials such as cork, bamboo, reclaimed wood, recycled metal, and organic textiles can dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of furnishing a home.
LOFT is continually searching for sustainable materials to help minimise our environmental impact - we use fabrics that include fibres from recycled sea waste for our mattresses and sofas, recycled polypropylene for our dining and study chairs, and recycled children's toys for our cabinetry and occasional furniture.
Social Impact: Promoting Health & Well-being
LOFT also understands how interior design
can profoundly affect the social well-being of residents.
Thoughtfully designed spaces that consider
ergonomics, natural light and comfort can directly enhance physical and mental health. For instance, furniture that supports proper posture and movement can prevent musculoskeletal problems, while ample natural light can improve mood and productivity.
Quietness, darkness, and a high-quality mattress improve the quality of our rest and sleep patterns, which directly impacts mental health.
Governance: Ethical Sourcing & Transparent Practices
For property investors and developers, the governance aspect of ESG focuses on ethical practices and transparency within businesses. In the context of interior design and furnishings, this involves choosing suppliers and manufacturers who adhere to high ethical standards.
This includes transparent supply chains, fair labour practices, and a commitment to reducing environmental impact using recycled materials, innovative packaging, and more efficient transport
solutions.
The circular economy is another exciting opportunity where LOFT and our partner can make a difference, together. We recently invested significantly in our recycling, upcycling, and refurbishing facilities, creating greater capacity for donating furniture.
Choosing a company that leads the way in innovation and sustainability in the UK property sector is a measurable way to make a difference - the world is changed by our example, not by our opinion.
How we recycle furniture and packaging
At LOFT, we have always been committed to sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint. We've created a recycling hub at our Manchester Warehouse to recycle in house.
